A huge emergency response was prompted by a shooting at the Ballard Food Bank in Seattle on Monday March 28.

Gunshots followed by screaming was heard clearly by people outside the building even though the shots appeared to come from inside, at around 5pm.

The filmer saw many food bank patrons outside the building, as well as a few food bank employees with blue lanyards around their necks, who seemed to be trying to create space for the emergency response.

As time passed, three more police vehicles arrived, two fire trucks, and finally an ambulance.

Soon after, the paramedics emerged from the building with a man on the stretcher who was shirtless with a thick bandage wrapped around his abdomen.

He was writhing in pain as they loaded him into the ambulance.

The filmer said there was no sign of the shooter, nor any sign of arrests happening at all.

A few police officers were moving quickly around the corner of building but it was not clear if they were in pursuit of the perpetrator and it seemed more likely they were securing the area.

Police are investigating.

The food bank recently relocated to this new location, the filmer said, adding that once it opened many homeless people began camping and loitering near the food bank.

The food bank’s peak hours are around 4-6pm, when there is often a long line outside.
