A chubby 4ft-long monitor lizard was rescued after rampaging through a restaurant and ended up getting trapped in a narrow gap between walls.

The reptile invaded the shop and ran across the kitchen while the owner was preparing the menu in Krabi province, Thailand on April 26.

It then crawled through the restaurant and went out to the back but was trapped on a narrow dead end.

Rescue volunteers who arrived at the scene lured it out using a pole with a noose before being dragged to the front of the property where it was tied.

Restaurant owner Somyot Sunthonhong, 40, said: ’The lizard appeared to panic same as me. I just let it inside and it went out to the back but it was trapped so I had to call for help.’

The monitor lizard was taken by the team and released to the wild.
