Large water monitor lizard caught outside ATM centre
A large water monitor lizard was caught outside an ATM machine.
The 4ft-long reptile wandered in front of the bank machines while locals were withdrawing money in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 21.
Footage shows a passerby using a long pole to pin the animal's neck to the ground before grabbing its head. The lizard was later turned over to authorities and released into its habitat.
Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
