This is the heartwarming moment a dog was rescued after being found trapped in a pit five hours in southern Thailand.

Pet owner Narunat Kamjan brought the pooch to a rubber plantation for a walk in Surat Thani province on May 29 when the incident happened.

As Narunat brought her pet dog down from the car, it ran loose and disappeared. For more than five hours Narunat searched the area before finally discovering her dog stuck in a large pit.

She said: 'I thought I lost her. When I saw Numtan wagging her tail down in the pit and crying for me I knew I'd do anything for her.'

Narunat called a backhoe service to help pull her dog out from the pit. The dog was eventually brought up to the ground safely.
