Stuck in middle of river, two students rescued by officials in northern India

Two students stranded while taking a bath in a river in northern India's Uttarakhand were safely rescued by officials.

The said students were taking bath in the Mandakini river at the time of the incident, which took place in Augustmuni area of Rudraprayag district on June 4.

Visuals showed officials pulling a rope, while a person is seen putting a tube through which he swims to safety.

According to reports, the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) team rescued two students, identified as Suman and Ankush Rawat.

The SDRF team consisted of Ashish Dimri, Dheeraj, Mukhesh, Nandan, Navin and Vipin Singh.

Sub-inspector Rajeev Chauhan of Agastyamuni Police Station was present at the spot. The cop and his team informed the SDRF after noticing the distressed students.

The students were stuck after the water level rose while they were taking a bath.
