Pied Oystercatchers watch the sky for danger, eat a worm then fly away

Australian Pied Oystercatchers (Haematopus longirostris) are often seen in pairs, feeding along the margins of wetlands and in this case lawn in the Coodanup Reserve. The birds were wary, probably watching the sky for a Whistling Kite that was circling nearby. One of the Oystercatchers caught and swallowed an earthworm before both birds flew off.
