This is the moment beautiful cloud iridescence lit up the sky in Thailand.

Footage shows the rare mass of magnificent clouds shining in the sky in the afternoon before sunset in Saraburi province on June 20.

The unusual cloud formation could be seen from a Buddhist temple which superstitious locals took as a sign of good luck.

Local Kwong Aiya said: ‘I prayed for good luck and just as I walked out of Was Khlong Bun, the amazing clouds were in the sky.

‘They looked very pretty. I have never seen anything like it before. I believe it's a sign that good things are about to happen.'

cloud iridescence, not to be confused with fire rainbows, forms when a humid layer of air above a low-lying cumulus cloud is pushed upwards. The air cools causing condensation and a cloud cap.

Sunlight then refracts through the water droplets in the cap on the cloud to create the dazzling multi-coloured effect.
