Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh held a protest pleading for a return to war-torn Myanmar.

Thousands of Rohingya asylum-seekers in camps across the country staged rallies on June 19 demanding to be repatriated to Myanmar, where they were driven out by cruel, state-sanctioned crackdowns on ethnic minorities five years ago.

The Tatmadaw, Myanmar's armed forces, has been known to brutalise ethnic minorities, notably the Muslim Rohingya people. International rights groups have slammed the inhumane treatment of the minorities, which have reportedly involved gang rapes, village arsons, and infanticide.

Today, an estimated 890,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to the Cox Bazar region in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, there are about 92,00 of them in Thailand, 102,000 in Malaysia, and 21,000 in India.
