Problems with the mains water supply to the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, UK continue - with some residents still without mains water this morning (July 13), nearly three days after the main water pipe to the island burst.

Many residents in Sheerness and parts of Minster on sea were however, successfully reconnected late last night.

Kent Online reports a long fire hose (reported to be 5 kilometres in length) is being used to help pump water from the mainland near the Sheppey Crossing to help resolve the problem as captured by this footage, but even that ended up 'springing a leak' with water seen shooting high into the air (repaired by the time of filming).

Most residents are expected to be reconnected by the end of today (July 14).
