Firefighters called to gorse fire incident in Holyhead, North Wales
Drone footage shows a gorse fire in Holyhead and smoke drifting over the town in North Wales as parts of the UK grapple with record high temperatures.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service tweeted on Monday afternoon (July 18): "Crews are currently dealing with an incident on Porthdafarch Road, Holyhead. Local residents are advised to stay indoors and close their windows and doors whilst firefighters are dealing with the incident."
The North Wales Chronicle reported a service spokesman as saying that there is approximately 400 square metres of gorse on fire.
Wales provisionally recorded its hottest day on record on Monday, with the temperature reaching 35.3C in Gogerddan, near Aberystwyth, the UK Met Office said.
