Firefighters were called out to a large fire in Wrexham, North Wales on Wednesday evening (April 20).

Piles of rubbish in a garden had been set alight on the grounds of a property on the junction of Gwydyr Way and Hermitage Drive and the fire was then left to burn out of control with flames, in its initial stages, seen climbing over the roof of an adjoining two-story house and were able to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters were called out to a large fire in Wrexham, N. Wales this evening. Garden waste and wood were alight in the grounds of a property on the junction of Gwydyr Way and Hermitage Drive. But what started as a “controlled burn” quickly spread uncontrollably and threatened nearby properties just feet from the blaze. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, despite thick smoke. The exact reason for the spread of the fire has yet to be determined.
