This is the heart-stopping moment a quick-thinking driver dodged a pickup truck hurtling onto the road from the opposite lane.

Motorist Jaruwat Phumkian, 35, was travelling with a friend to a religious ceremony in Kalasin province when the out-of-control vehicle flew across the centre island and overturned on the highway in Roi Et province on July 27 .

Jaruwat swerved just in time to dodge the pickup in a near-miss accident that was caught on dashcam video, which shows how the truck nearly clipped their Mercedes car.

Miraculously, the pickup driver survived the crash and escaped with only minor injuries. Rescuers have administered first aid on him and have taken him to a hospital to be treated.

Jaruwat said: 'I remember asking my passenger which district the ceremony was happening when the pickup suddenly appeared.

‘I was so shocked. It's a miracle how the pickup stopped right in front of our car. I always wear a Buddhist amulet around my neck for protection, which is why I think we survived.'
