Rogue wild monkeys rampaged through a market, snarling at locals in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the primates chasing away a mother and her daughter who had just finished cleaning in front of their house in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya on August 29.

The fearless troop was also seen pursuing the mother when she shouted at them.

Aside from residents, some vendors complained that they could not open their shops because the monkeys have claimed their spots in certain areas.

A pizza shop owner said: ‘Our homes have been invaded by these animals. There was a big male monkey wandering in the community and went into my shop and the others around to search for food.'

The vendor added that the monkeys always hissed at them and even attacked people so they had no choice but to lock themselves inside their homes.

The pizza shop owner has contacted the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) asking for help capturing monkeys.

DNP officers sent cages to catch monkeys and suggested placing different types of food inside to lure the monkeys. However, the creatures were too clever as they did not work.

Local authorities said they are still assessing the situation but they will deploy another solution soon.

The scary scenes came after a wild monkey attacked a five-year-old girl outside her home in Satun, southern Thailand, on August 30.

Nong Klangjai suffered cuts from the unprovoked assault by the primate, which slapped and bit her. She was taken to the hospital to be checked before being released without any lasting damage.
