Apartments were flooded after torrential rain hammered India's 'Silicon Valley' Bengaluru on Monday.

Footage shows residents wading through brown floodwaters swamping the Varthur Panathur road in Karnataka State on September 5.

India's IT capital was severely waterlogged after heavy rains dumped large volumes of water in what scientists called the ‘worst rainfall for more than four decades.'

Hundreds of homes were submerged, with the city seeing the most severe bout of rainfall in 42 years, local media said.

One woman was reported killed in the deluge after her she fell off-balance on her scooter and touched an electric pole.

Police said the floods have receded on Wednesday, but the weather department warned of more rain battering Bengaluru until the end of the week.
