This is the dramatic moment a modified motorcycle caught fire when its owner started the engine.

The blue two-wheeler burst into flames as driver Samrueng Koongpayasua's tried to kick-start it in his garage in Chanthanaburi province, Thailand, on September 8.

He was stepping on the gas pedal but the spark appeared to have ignited the bike's engine, with the flames quickly spreading across the leather seat. The motorcycle also left trails of burning fuel on the ground while Samrueng dragged it away from his house.

The panicked motorist and his wife were seen dumping buckets of water over the blaze, which was successfully extinguished but had left the vehicle damaged.

Samrueng said: 'I only took my motorcycle out in the flood yesterday. I'm not sure what happened. I normally carry durian fruit on my motorbike. I believe that an oil leakage triggered the fire.'
