This needlework artist painstakingly weaves incredible giant mandalas by hand and sells them at a market in the Philippines.

The diligent crochetier Adelaida Guia, 52, spins the hypnotic geometric patterns from yarn, with some of her creations reaching up to 10 feet in length. She then hangs up the head-turning decorations for sale at a street bazaar in Session Road in Benguet province's Baguio City every Sunday.

Depending on the design and size, the mandalas - which are traditionally used for meditation in Hindu and Buddhist cultures - sell for between 12,00 PHP (210 USD) to a staggering 50,000 PHP (876 USD). Adelaida said she had used up some 25 kilograms of yarn to complete the elaborate artworks, which take roughly two weeks to finish per piece.

A former customer service representative, the crochet artist said she had always dabbled in the hobby, but fully immersed herself in the craft after the Covid-19 pandemic struck the Philippines.

By watching tutorials on video streaming platform YouTube, she honed her skills before finally opening her own store.

She said her children have also started pursuing their own hobbies, creating trinkets like dolls and earrings which she puts up for sale in her shop.
