Days after Hurricane Ian rolled over southwest and central Florida, its torrential rains are still causing problems in the region.

Rivers are cresting at record heights from Arcadia to Punta Gorda. Gov. Ron De Santis called it a 500-year flood event.

This extended video features ground and drone video of flooding on the Peace River. Surface street flooding throughout southwest Florida can also be seen.

Most of the river heights are supposed to peak on Saturday. Airboats were counted among the rescue boats assisting residents caught in the floodwaters. First responders say the floodwater is setting their efforts back.
