This is the moment policemen carried heavy sacks of coins donated by Buddhist monks in Thailand.

Officers attended the ceremony at Bang Plee Yhai Nai temple, where they received the gifts as part of the Loy Krathong celebration in Samut Prakan province on November 8.

They were jokingly asked to put the haul into the back of their truck but failed, as the bags' weight required more people.

None of the officers could carry the bags weighing more than 220 lbs so four police eventually carried them together onto the truck.

Footage shows the cops working together to take the money into their vehicle.

Samut Prakan Forensic Police supervisor Suwatanasilkul said: 'Such coins are expected to be worth at least 30,000 baht (713 GBP).

'The money will be used to fund the construction of the Samut Prakan Office of Forensics car park roof.'

The coins came from donations collected by the monks. For the special occasion, they decided to distribute them among police, rescue service officers, and schools.

Buddhism is the official religion of Thailand where it was followed by more than 95 per cent of the population.
