This is the nail-biting moment a dosey pedestrian was almost hit by an oncoming train while he ambled over a level crossing in Indonesia.

The man, believed to be around 40 years old, dawdled over the railway tracks in Cimahi City, West Java on December 15 as the train charged towards him.

Despite the operator sounding the horn to call his attention, the pedestrian did not even turn his head, only breaking into a jog when the train had already passed behind him.

Onlooker Sandi Saputra said: 'Everyone at the location shouted at the man, but he just didn't care and kept on walking.'

Following the near miss, authorities urged motorists and pedestrians to abide by Indonesia's Law No. 23 of 2007, which states that road users must give way to trains passing through a crossing.
