Snowy Owl shows up extremely far from its normal range
A snowy owl showed up in Southern California this week which is an extremely rare sighting here in this Mediterranean climate. Snowy owls typically live in the arctic tundra where they are well camouflaged. It's unknown exactly how the owl got down this far but it's likely that it was somehow trapped on a cargo ship from Alaska and was able to fly away once the ship got into port near here.
