This elephant mock charged a vehicle in Wasgamuwa National Park, Sri Lanka, but just stopped short of causing any damage or injury.

Manindra Dharmadasa held his breath as a massive Asian elephant gathered speed and headed straight for the vehicle.

Calls from the truck thwarted the beasts progress as it fanned it's ears in an act of aggression and intimidation.

After a moment to establish dominance over those in the car, the elephant then turned around and rejoined the herd.

Manindra said: "I was doing a safari drive when I observed a heard of wild Asian elephants from a distance.

"I stopped the vehicle at a distance and started recording using my mobile when one elephant started to charge us head on without any warning."
