A UK McDonalds refused to give a musician a slice of cheese with his vegan burger and he captured the whole interaction on camera.

Louis Wright, 25, fancied a McDonald's and visited a drive thru in Poole on September 19.

He began by ordering a McPlant burger without the vegan cheese and asked the store to instead add a normal slice of cheese onto the burger instead.

However, to Louis’ surprise the staff refused to do this, resulting in Louis speaking to the manager about the issue.

As a way around this Louis asked if he could order a separate cheeseburger meal without the bun, meat and toppings, so he would receive just the slice of cheese, but the staff also refused to do this.

The store allowed Louis to order cheese bites and he pointed out his confusion with allowing that but not his cheese slice.

The video has since garnered over 3.4 Million views, with many of the viewers commenting their confusion on why the staff couldn't just serve the cheese.

Louis said: “I thought it was absolutely hilarious as much as it was so frustrating

“The manager started telling me he wouldn’t risk his job for a slice of cheese.

“Everyone thinks it’s funny and equally as confusing at how McDonald’s reacted.”

A spokesperson for McDonalds said: "Our McPlant is a Vegan Certified product, and we understand that the team member was following our advice to restaurants, which is not to customise the product with non-vegan ingredients to protect its integrity. However, we accept the guidance may have been misinterpreted on this occasion, and the restaurant team have been made aware. We'd encourage the customer to contact our customer services."
