A friendly wild elephant showed up at a park's lodging campsite and entertained tourists with its antics in Thailand.

The jumbo named Plai Diew Lub emerged from the forest next to villas at the Khao Yai National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima province on January 27.

The inquisitive elephant walked around inspecting the lawn, fiddling with a cooler and a plastic stool left at the scene.

To the amusement of onlookers, Plai Diew Lub dug up the ground and showered himself with soil in an amusing dirt bath.

The public relations staff of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation had previously taken pictures of the gentle giant taking a nap.

Aptly named Diew Lub meaning 'to sleep alone', the elephant is fond of falling into a 'food coma' and likes sleeping for 15 to 20 minutes after a meal.

Because of his friendly disposition, Plai Diew Lub has become popular with photographers and park visitors.
