A woman was left horrified after using an eyelash curler, only for it to 'chop off' her lashes.

Alex Murphy, 34, originally from Boston, but now living in London, regularly shares funny clips of her life on TikTok with 800,000 followers.

But things took a dark turn in a recent clip, as Alex revealed the damage she claims an eyelash curler caused.

Alex was doing her make-up live on TikTok when it happened, using a normal metal eyelash curler to achieve the desired effect.

“I basically cut them down to the root accidentally. I was trying to do my best 'Alix Earl', she’s a social media creator that is known for her amazing makeup and eyelashes,” Alex told NeedToKnow.Online.

“So I was on a live stream when I tried a curler as she recommended.

“Only to look down and find out that it had chopped my lashes off from basically the root!

“It pinched a bit but I didn’t think anything bad was happening until I moved the curlers and saw they were all chopped off.

“I just tried not to cry, at first I thought there was no way it could happen, but it sure did.”

Alex is trying out some natural remedies for now.

She added: “They look like a whole chunk is missing, and to be honest, my eye is a bit sore.

“But someone told me to try castor oil, so I am slathering that on them. Not sure I’ll be ever using them [curlers] again!”

Speaking to the camera in the clip, she says: “Guys I just had a lash emergency.

“I just chopped off my lashes, can someone please tell me the best lash serum because I literally just chopped them off. Help!”

The video garnered nearly 10,000 views and hundreds of likes, as her followers shared their horror.

One shocked viewer commented: "Omg how did u chop off your lashes?” [sic]

To which Alex replied: “Stupid lash curler!”

Another user wrote: "Oh no!!”

Alex also commented: "Someone help.”

Helpful followers recommended using castor oil and serum to help them grow back.

She is also being comforted by her followers and her fiancé until they eventually grow back.

She said: “Followers online keep assuring me it’s not so bad, but it’s definitely noticeable.

“Just going to try every home remedy to get them back quick!”

Alex, who was once a professional ice skater for dancing on ice UK, has previously gone viral in the past for filming funny videos with her fiancé, Paul, 30.

She has made headlines for her antics, including giving Paul a toothpaste sandwich, feeding him microwaved eggs, and doing the ‘salt prank’ where she hid a spoon full of salt under some bolognese.
