Lilly was a rescue I found from Mississippi.. I adopted her this July 2022., to say she was a mess is an understatement! I have Never seen a dog in poorer condition that remained so sweet. Poor dog has so many medical conditions;; bilateral hip dysplasia, multiple missing broken teeth, healing fractures of the rib cage, heart worm positive. The only thing disclosed during the adoption process is Lilly was heart worm positive.
Day one I discovered she had many more health issues plus she had absolutely NO training at 2 years old. She was found pregnant, tied up to a fence in the sweltering heat of Mississippi.
I have trained Lilly endlessly to walk like a lady on a leash. There were many days she’s dragged me to the ground chasing after bunnies, fox, squirrels anything that moved really like leaves recently fallen from the trees. Lilly would dart, every direction. i REFUSED to give up. every single day. same thing. It's been a battle between me and Lilly.
one day, it clicked with her. no more chasing. she learned endless verbal commands.
Lilly and i go to the beach most mornings, now she is able to walk off leash.
This morning lilly came back to me with a dead fish.
Well, $&@"! after all of that training, I forgot the simplest command, "DROP IT".
