Aerial drone footage filmed with special permission from local authorities on Saturday, February 11 shows the devastating earthquake damage and aftermath of the deadly tremors in Adiyaman, southeastern Turkey.

The drone footage, filmed by journalists with permission from local government, shows entire buildings razed to the ground.

Further on-the-ground footage shows rescue teams searching for survivors, working on removing dead bodies found in the debris behind a makeshift screen held up by hand, out of view of the camera Adiyaman, also on Saturday. Corpses wrapped in body bags are carried away. A helicopter, thought to be part of the rescue effort, flies overhead.

Adiyaman is a city of about 270,000 mostly Muslim residents, according to reports, although on Friday the call to prayer could not be heard because of a lack of electricity.

Rescuers did manage to pull some survivors from buildings on Friday, some who had survived more than 100 hours trapped under concrete.

More than 20,000 people have died in Turkey and Syria due to the quake.
