A Black Hawk helicopter crashed on a busy highway in Alabama, USA, resulting in the death of two National Guardsmen.

The two fatalities were confirmed on Wednesday (February 15) after the military chopper crashed into Highway 53, close to the Burrel Road intersection.

Doorbell footage captured from a home in Huntsville shows the helicopter plunging from the sky, followed by a large plume of black smoke.

Additional videos show the scene on the highway as emergency services attended the scene with thick black smoke pouring out of the fiery wreckage.

The chopper was linked to the Tennessee National Guard, which confirmed the two fatalities were their own crew.

There were no other injuries reported.

Tennessee’s Adjutant General Brigadier General Warner Ross said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of two Tennessee National Guardsmen, and our prayers are with their families during this heartbreaking tragedy." "

A spokesman for the National Guard confirmed that it was too premature to ascertain the cause of the crash.
