Footage shows the rare suweg flower -- latin name Amorphophallus paeoniifolius -- in an oil palm plantation in Dharmasraya Regency, Indonesia on March 18.

The initial discovery of the flower was due to an unpleasant odor, like the carcass of an animal being released, and thus, attracting attention to find the source of the smell.

The filmer told Newsflare: "The shape of the flower is very beautiful and unique. The petals are estimated to be 40cm in size and 50cm in height. This was the second time this flower had been found in the area. Previously, neighbors also found it, which they thought was just an ordinary flower. This flower is unique, because from morning to evening it does not smell like ordinary flowers, but in the afternoon, it smells like dead animals. Right now we don't know what to do with it, but the response from the community was quite good after posting it and they really want to see it up close and are also interested in doing research."

While busy looking for grass for animal feed, Gogo Prayogo was surprised to find a rare flower called Suweg or the Latin name Amorphophallus paeoniifolius in an oil palm plantation in block A absent Sitiung 1, Nagari Gunung Medan, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. Gogo explained that the flower gave off an unpleasant odor only in the afternoon, while in the afternoon the smell of carrion began to be emitted, which might have attracted the attention of insects around it. "Initially the smell produced was that of carrion, but it turned out to be a rare flower which is usually called suweg, and now to make it safe they are starting to be given a fence to protect it from other animals and residents passing through the oil palm plantation," he explained on Saturday (18/3/2023 ). Later the Suweg will be allowed to grow first after being given a fence so that no other animals will disturb it. Gogo also said that this flower is unique, from morning to evening it does not smell or smells like ordinary flowers, but in the afternoon it smells like dead animals. Bunga Langka Tumbuh di Kebun Sawit Warga Gunung Medan

Tengah asyik mencari rumput untuk pakan ternak, Gogo Prayogo dikagetkan dengan penemuan bunga langka yang dinamai Suweg atau nama latin Amorphophallus paeoniifolius di kebun sawit kawasan blok A absen Sitiung 1, Nagari Gunung medan, Kecamatan Sitiung, Kabupaten Dharmasraya.

Awal penemuan bunga tersebut dikarenakan bau yang tidak sedap seperti bangkai hewan yang dikeluarkan, sehingga menarik perhatian untuk mencari sumber bau tersebut.

Gogo menjelaskan, bunga tersebut mengeluarkan bau tidak sedap cuma pada sore hari, sedangkan di sore tersebut bau bangkai mulai dikeluarkan yang mungkin untuk menarik perhatian serangga di sekitar.

" Awalnya bau yang dihasilkan tersebut meripakan bangkai, tapi ternyata sebuah bunga langka yang biasa dinamai suweg, dan sekarang ini agar aman mulai diberi pagar agar terlindung dari hewan lain serta warga yang melintas di perlebunan sawit," jelasnya pada Sabtu (18/3/2023).

Nantinya Suweg tersebut akan dibiarkan dahulu tumbuh setelah di beri pagar agar tidak ada hewan lain yang mengganggu.

Gogo juga menuturkan, uniknya bunga ini, pada pagi hingga sore tidak mengeluarkan bau atau seperti bunga biasa, namun di sore hari baunya mirip bangkai hewan.

" Bentuk bunga tersebut sangat cantik dan unik, kelopaknya diperkirakan berukuran 40cm dan tingginya 50cm," katanya.

Gogo menambahkan, bunga ini sudah kedua kalinya di temukan di wilayah tersebut, yang mana sebelumnya juga tetangga sekitar menemukan, yang disangka hanya bunga biasa, melainkan bunga langka.

" Saat ini belum tau akan diapakan, tapi respon dari masyarakat cukup bagus usai di posting dan sangat ingin melihatnya dari dekat dan juga tertaruk untuk melakukan penelitian" tambahnya.(moozamochi).
