A group of locals enjoyed a cup of coffee next to a rare corpse flower that had a strong, unpleasant odour of decaying flesh.

Footage filmed by Heru Nofriandi, in Jorong Sitingkai Palupuh, Agam district, West Sumatra province, shows the group sitting next to the large flower.

According to Nofriandi, he deliberately brought coffee and enjoyed it near the flower. "I posted the Rafflesia video on Instagram @heru_nofriandi to tell my followers that the flower had grown," he said.

A group of locals visit the habitat of the rare corps flower Rafflesia Arnoldii just to enjoy a coffee near the huge flower in full bloom in the Indonesian rainforest.

The man, a local tour guide, said that the forest, which is located about 2-3 kilometres from residential areas, is the habitat of the large corps flower Rafflesia Arnoldii.

According to Heru, he deliberately brought coffee and enjoyed it near the flower. "I posted the Rafflesia video on Instagram @heru_nofriandi to tell my followers that the flower had grown," he said.

During 2023, hundreds of tourists from various countries have come to see Rafflesia flowers here. They are on holiday, research, documentation and others.
