Three teenagers in Orenburg, Russia were rescued from a drifting ice floe on March 24, 2023, thanks to the efforts of emergency responders.

The boys had been walking on thin ice when they found themselves in the middle of the Ural River, unable to make their way back to the shore. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Orenburg Region, the 2nd fire and rescue unit, the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels, and the Emergency and Rescue Service of the Orenburg Region all responded to the emergency call.

The rescue operation was successful and the ice floe, along with the teenagers, was washed ashore near the railway bridge. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the teenagers were able to get to shore on their own and were unharmed.
