One dead and one injured after billboard collapses during storm in Cambodia

One person was killed while another was injured when a billboard collapsed during a storm in Cambodia.

Pheng Chanthou, 44, died instantly after being crushed by the heavy signboard near the Smile Ling traffic light in the Slor Kram commune of Siem Reap on March 29 evening.

Chea Narath, 33, was also injured and was confined at the Bangkek Provincial Hospital where he was recovering.

Authorities later cleared the fallen billboard causing traffic chaos after blocking the road.

In a statement, Siem Reap governor Tea Seiha has expressed his condolences to Pheng Chanthou's family.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said Cambodia will be weakly affected by low pressure valleys from March 29 to April 4.

Cambodia and other countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms.
