A solar storm brought beautiful auroras over the sky in Oklahoma.

Footage shows vibrant shades of purple and red and hints of yellow and green scattered across the horizon, as seen from the Mesonet Site in Norman on May 10.

Solar storms can cause auroras, northern and southern lights, to appear in the sky. The charged particles released from the sun during a solar storm interact with Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere, making the atmosphere glow in colourful displays we see as auroras.
