On 19 April 1943, dozens of Jews revolted against the German occupiers when they entered the area to deport its surviving population.

The uprising is considered the largest resistance by Jews during World War II. According to Holocaust Encyclopedia, at least 7,000 died while fighting or hiding in the ghetto.

This footage features images of a music performance as well as a speech by Ronald Lauder, the president of the World Jewish Congress.
