This is the moment storm winds blew dust onto a road obscuring visibility during a storm in Thailand.

Footage shows gusts whipping up sand near market stalls in eastern Chachoengsao province on April 24.

Onlooker Kaewta Mouy said: 'I was about to go to the market when the road was suddenly filled with sand blowing all over the place. We couldn't see anything so we were stuck there for around 20 minutes before we could drive out. There were also trees and electric poles that fell over due to the strong wind.'

The dust swirls came following record temperatures of up to 42 degrees Celsius during a heatwave across Asia.

The Thai Meteorological Department warned that southerly and southeasterly winds prevailing over northeastern Thailand would strengthen between April 23 and 26.

Outbreaks of summer storms, accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, and lightning strikes, were expected to affect the northeastern and eastern parts of the country first, before spreading to other regions.
