A dog named Reggie was rescued from a sinking boat near St Simons Sound, off the coast of Georgia, on May 1.

Footage shared by the Coast Guard of Georgia shows the moment Reggie and two people were rescued from the sinking vessel.

It's unclear what made the boat sink.

These images show a US Coast Guard official carrying out a rescue operation on a dog called Reggie that was left tied to a sinking boat.

The incident took place on the open sea near St Simons Sound, off the coast of the US state of Georgia, on Monday, 1st May.

The first piece of footage shows a member of the US Coast Guard climbing aboard the sinking boat that Reggie the dog was reportedly tied to. The second piece of footage shows one of two unnamed people who were on the boat being lifted up to the US Coast Guard helicopter.

The rescue was made possible by an alert from their personal locator beacon (PLB). The survivors were transported to Hunter Army Airfield, where local EMS was waiting. It is unclear what caused the boat to sink, but the two people and Reggie are reported to be in good spirits.
