A kind mechanic helped remove a gold ring from a neighbour's swollen finger using the string trick.
Footage shows the jewelry stuck on Sumittra Tongchaipum's bulging red finger in Buriram province, Thailand on May 23.
She sought assistance from a friend working at a motorcycle repair shop next door and took a white sewing thread.
The man then tied the material around her finger to squeeze and let the ring slide off.
Sumittra said: ‘I wore the ring two days before I felt it was hurting. I panicked and asked my neighbours if they could help me. They were kind enough to assist me.'
