A mechanic chopped his friend's hair with a machete in a cheap but bizarre DIY salon.

Footage shows the Preecha Sangsaraphan unsheathing a bolo before hacking his female colleague's long brown strands as she lay on the ground at their repair shop in Khon Kaen province, Thailand on May 30.

The self-assured first-time barber initially cut up to three inches of the woman's hair and appeared to mince the tip to shape it.

The cut was done quickly, and the woman sat up, fixing her new hairdo while Preecha proudly clapped at the result.

He said: ‘Why would she need to go to expensive salons when we can do it here for free? The result would look the same without breaking the bank.'

The woman's hairstyle turned out to be a shaggy V-shaped cut that had apparently uneven lengths.
