A glamorous female mechanic who wears her makeup while repairing motorcycles has urged more women to overcome stereotypes and join the profession.

Chutikan Herdadisai, 23, also known by her nickname 'Smile', learned about tools and fixing gears as a little girl from her father at their home in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand.

Smile took over her father's shop after attending seminars, but some customers were easily enchanted by her beauty as they took broken scooters and bikes at the garage.

Footage shows the pretty mechanic with full-on make-up and wearing black overalls. She was seen seamlessly cutting screws with a saw and grinding bolts with long black nails.

Smile said: ‘I believe most people think that women fixing motorcycles is strange. Thailand is not very open to the idea yet unlike the other countries.

‘But women can work just like men. Sometimes we even have the same strength. For jobs that require more labour, there are tools to help today so I can do it. I never judge a job if it's for a man or a woman.'

Smile added she learned all about repairing from her father and that she 'has just as much knowledge as men'.

She said: ‘I grew up with it. My father started this shop when he was young. The first thing I saw as a kid were the tools, the motorcycles and spare parts so I feel connected and attached to fixing motorcycles.

‘I wanted to continue my father's business. When I was just a little girl, I helped carry the tools. Then when I was 15 I started learning how to fix from my father.'

Aside from the shop, Smile has many fans online following her do repair and dance videos.

She said: ‘I fix cars but there's no need for me to look shabby with stains on my clothes, torn jeans and shirt with black hands.

'I can live my life as a woman, do makeup, colour my hair and get nail extensions and still be able to fix my motorcycle.'
