A distressed resident is seeking help from authorities as thousands of bugs attacked her home in northeast Thailand.

Mala Jitdee, 65, said she has been enduring the plague of beetle-like insects regularly invading her home in Nakhon Ratchasima province for more than two years.

Footage shows the skin-crawling swarm of bugs taking over the family's house, which has been covered in blue netting to prevent them from breaching the interior.

However, the efforts proved futile as the insects continued to infest the cement walls and wooden floorboards.

Residents swept away the beetle army every day, but there was no end to the persistent creatures that sought shelter in the beams, rugs, and household items to multiply during both the hot and rainy season. Adding to their misery, the pests also emitted a foul odour.

Desperate Mala has sought help from exterminators and local authorities as the infestation had grown severe.

She lamented: 'I'm at my wit's end. I can't live peacefully in my own home anymore because the beetles are everywhere.

'I've tried killing the insects under sunlight to get rid of their smell, but they just keep increasing.'

She said she hoped the exterminators would help her eliminate the bug army as her home had become uninhabitable.
