An orphaned baby monkey hugs and clings to a giant teddy bear thinking it is its mum in the most heartwarming clip you'll see today.

The animal was found on India's Wardha highway three months ago by an ambulance driver. Unfortunately, its mother died in an accident but the beautiful baby monkey survived. The newborn is now looked after by the organisation Karunashram People for Animals, which helps wild and domestic animals in the city of Wardha, Maharashtra.

"The driver who found it took it to our NGO", explained Koustaub Gawande, who works at the organisation.

"We gave this teddy bear to the baby monkey as a substitute mother and it got very attached to it. It now has a special bond with it and probably feels she is its mother. It hugs it and sleeps on it," he added.

This video, which was filmed inside the rescue centre, shows the cute monkey interacting with its new mum and even drinking from a bottle of milk attached to the soft toy.

"At the beginning, it was not very active but it is slowly looking happier and more active", said Gawande.

The NGO will keep the animal for six or seven months until it becomes a bit older and independent. After that, its health and behaviour will be evaluated and if considered appropriate, the organisation will release it into the wild.

The video was filmed on June 6, 2023.
