Russia has said claimed it has destroyed a German-made IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile system using a kamikaze drone.

The footage purports to show the moment the Russian kamikaze drone allegedly hit the German-made, Ukrainian-operated anti-aircraft missile system, with troops seen retreating as the area is peppered with explosions.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Thursday, June 8, along with a statement claiming: 'One hit - one target.

'Video monitoring of the defeat of the TRML-4D multifunctional radar from the IRIS-T SLM air defence system manufactured in Germany, which is in service with Ukrainian nationalists.'

The Russian MoD added: 'UAV calculations of the Airborne Forces unit revealed the position of the IRIS-T SLM air defence system. The multifunctional radar station of the air defence complex was hit by loitering ammunition.

'The radar has been destroyed.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
