Russia has said that it has destroyed a Ukrainian fortification near Liman using a 'Grad' multiple launch rocket system, as these images purport to show.

The footage shows the multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) being loaded with ordnance and manoeuvring into position before it can be seen firing its rockets into the sky with a deafening roar.

The images then cut to a number of explosions purporting to show the Ukrainian positions being hit.

The vehicle can then be seen manoeuvring away to avoid return fire as the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Friday, 22nd September, along with a statement claiming: 'The crew of an MLRS 'Grad' of the Central Military District destroyed a Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) support point in the Krasnolimansk direction during a special military operation.

'The military personnel of the rocket artillery units equipped with BM-21-1 'Grad' multiple launch rocket systems of a mountain motorized infantry formation of the Central Military District destroyed a UAF support point in the Krasnolimansk direction of the special military operation.

'After receiving coordinates for the enemy's personnel concentration at one of the UAF support points from forward observers, the artillerymen immediately moved to their combat positions.

'Having aimed the combat vehicle at the target, the military personnel fired a salvo of 122-mm rockets at a distance of over 15 km. Target assessment was conducted by reconnaissance personnel of the task force using an unmanned aerial vehicle.

'After completing the mission, the unit executed an anti-aircraft manoeuvre, quickly leaving their firing position and concealing themselves in a wooded area.

'The coordinated work of the 'Grad' MLRS unit personnel allows for rapid-fire support against identified enemy personnel and equipment concentration areas, as well as providing support for the actions of Russian units by covering the positions of Ukrainian nationalists with artillery fire.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation.'
