Sea level rise caused by climate change is threatening the island of Java, Indonesia.
This drone footage shows the impact on Cemarajaya Village's Pisangan Beach in Karawang Regency, West Java. Villagers can be seen performing maintenance work on the so-called "Low Threshold Breakwater Technology" construction to slow down the pace of the dreadful phenomenon.
According to Garry, the person who filmed this video, 300 houses were damaged by sea level rise in coastal Karawang.
Experts believe that a large number of Indonesian coastal areas and small islands will disappear before 2050 due to climate change.
