The city of Suwon is located 30 kilometres south of Seoul. There, in Suwon, is the ancient Hwaseong Fortress. Located in the historic centre of Suwon, the fortress is open to tourists every day. It was formerly known as the Suwon Fortress Wall. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. King Jeonjo built the fortress to house the remains of his father.
Hwaseong Fortress is the site of many major cultural events. But one of the most impressive performances is a demonstration of ancient Korean martial arts called Muyo 24 ki.
