The first forum of the Spanish-Chinese Association for Exchanges and Development was held in Madrid, the capital of Spain on Thursday, with the theme of "Situation of the Chinese market in Spain and business opportunities."

SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): EVA YING, Chinese Secretary General of the Spanish-Chinese Association for Exchanges and Development
"The situation is that we are in a moment of great need for the services market, to outsource and digitize companies, and in general, there is no platform that brings together these Chinese companies to connect with Spanish companies."

The Spanish-Chinese Association for Exchanges and Development was created in 2013 with the approval of the Spanish authorities in Madrid and is composed of entrepreneurs from China, Spain and other European countries.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): SALVADOR BELLIDO MACIAS, President of the General Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises, Spain
"We start from a very important base. Both countries have a lot of sympathy and when sympathy is seen on both sides it is easier to negotiate. I hope that these meetings will take place more frequently than so far and we will be able to develop stronger economic relations between the two countries."

According to experts, the main sectors for investment between Spain and China are industries such as hospitality, tourism, wholesale and retail trade.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Spain and China and the China-Spain Year of Culture and Tourism.
