A heartwarming video captures the birth of an endangered male giraffe calf at the Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria on July 12, 2023.

The CCTV footage shows the calf being delivered and standing up just seconds later, astonishing zookeepers. The calf's ability to stand and walk shortly after birth is an adaptive trait that allows giraffes to escape potential predators in their natural savanna habitat.

This is the mother giraffe's second offspring, following the birth of a female a year and a half ago.

The zoo is carefully integrating the calf into the giraffe herd, contributing to the conservation efforts for the endangered reticulated giraffe species.
