At least 15 electrocuted to death after transformer explodes in northern India
At least 15 have been electrocuted to death after a transformer exploded in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on July 19.
Footage shared by Lalita Negi of India's State Disaster Response Force shows rescue officials transporting a victim into an ambulance.
According to reports, a circulation of electricity through a metal railing led to the incident.
Among the deceased are three Home Guard personnel and one sub-inspector.
The state's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said: "Extremely painful news was received of many casualties due to electrocution in Chamoli. Those injured in the accident have been sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into this unfortunate incident. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured."
