Heavy winds lashed seaside homes as Super Typhoon Doksuri roared towards the Philippines this morning.

Footage shows strong gales blowing through trees and wooden homes near the coast of Samar province on Monday afternoon, July 24.

Philippine weather agency PAGASA said Typhoon Doksuri had been bringing scattered rainstorms while enhancing the southwest monsoon but it intensified overnight into a super typhoon.

The state weather bureau said in an 8 am update today: 'A short window of high favorable environment in the near term will allow Egay to either maintain its intensity in the next 12 hours or slightly intensify.'

Forecasters said the super typhoon could touch down in the Cagayan province area on the northern island of Luzon between Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.
