STORYLINE:

China's first offshore oil and gas equipment manufacturing "smart factory" has started its second phase of construction in north China's Tianjin Municipality.

The CNOOC Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing Base in Binhai New Area of Tianjin aims to boost the production capacity and digital transformation of the industry, and to enhance the national energy security.

Covering an area of about 18,800 square meters, the project will build an intelligent production line of structural pipelines with an annual processing capacity of 22,000 tons, which can be integrated with the production execution system and the digital twin system, to achieve automation and intelligence of structural pipeline prefabrication, dispatch, data collection and quality inspection.

SOUNDBITE (Chinese): LIU YUXI, Chief engineer of CNOOC Tianjin construction branch
"After the completion of the second phase of the project, the base will form four intelligent production centers composed of plane segment production lines, process pipeline production lines, structural pipeline production lines and automated three-dimensional warehouses, which will help the annual production capacity of the base jump from 33,000 tons to 88,000 tons."

As the demonstration application base of intelligent manufacturing of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the demonstration base of digital transformation of China's central enterprises, CNOOC Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing Base applies a large number of advanced technologies such as 5G, industrial big data and artificial intelligence to realize the intelligent process from project control, workshop construction to plant management.

Since it was officially put into use in 2022, the efficiency of the entire production line of the base has increased by 25%, the comprehensive construction efficiency has increased by 12%, and the final assembly efficiency has increased by about 30% compared with the traditional manufacturing mode, providing a replicable and promotable digital intelligent operation and management mode for China's offshore oil and gas equipment industry.
