West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation after pregnant Liwam Bereket was found with neck slash wounds on Freeth Street in the Ladywood area of Central Birmingham late on Tuesday 1 August night.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the critical care team carrying Air Ambulance doctors attended the incident.

The medical crews tried in vain to save the victim but unfortunately she was declared dead at the scene.

The crews then carried out an emergency C-Section to try and save her unborn child, however the baby was stillborn.

Police later arrested and charged Filmon Andmichaen from Great Barr on suspicion of murder.

Specialist search teams, including a sniffer dog, searched the area for clues into the womans death.

Forensic officers in white suits then photographed the crime scene including the body inside the ambulance.

Police staff placed a blue evidence tent in the wooded area above the roadside where the she was found.

WEST MIDLANDS POLICE STATEMENT: "We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in Ladywood last night, Tuesday 1 August. 

"A woman was found with serious injuries in woodland off Freeth Street at around 8.45pm.

"Sadly nothing could be done to save her.

"A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

"We're still at the scene and a police presence will remain while we continue our enquiries.
